Now I'm not really a fan of Big Cities especially when travelling because they all pretty much the same big, bustling with people and motor vehicles of all sorts. So Delhi for me wasn't really that wow or even a highlight of my trip so far, it also confirmed by dislike for big cities even more, I used to think Bangkok and Hoi Chi Min was too big and too busy and too crowded but Delhi is like both of them put together and times it by 5, it's insanely busy from the cars on the road to the pedestrian walks (which sometimes don't even exist because they take up by parked bikes or scooters) you can not move anywhere because it's so full.
Anyways we saw many amazing sights in Delhi and Amritsar, in Delhi we saw the Red Fort, a couple of mosque's, a Mahatma Gandhi memorial, the lotus temple, the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple (Which needs to get it's own blog entry) and a lot of other amazing sights, in Amritsar we saw the Golden Temple which looks absolutely amazing at night with the lighting (standing in the que on the the bridge to get into the temple during the day is a a nightmare though, well for me at least). And then there was the boarder crossing in Amritsar which was rather enjoyable it felt like being at a concert almost, but it's so amazing to see people so patriotic and passionate about the country.

But as much as we saw so many amazing sights from Delhi to Amritsar the one sight we did't see was a blue sky, and no it wasn't raining nor was it cloudy the sky is constantly white/grey and dull because of the amount of air pollution. Any thing you look at in the distance can barely be seen, kind of like it would appear when it is misty in the mornings, except this is not mist.
It reminded me of a city from one of those futuristic SiFi movies where people are living on another planet because earth is too polluted to live in. I remembered a scene from The Matrix Revolution (Third Movie) where Neo and Trinity must fly above the clouds to escape the sentinels, where she sees for the first time the sun and blue sky. Now I didn't fly in or out of Delhi during the day so I don't know if there is a pollution layer but I would imagine that it would be something like that scene from the Martix.
Is it possible that one day our futuristic SiFi movies just might become our reality, because from the looks of Delhi and Amritsar that one day might not be very far away.
