Today I took my first train journey (3rd Class), and what an experience. Well the train was late and so the arrival time was obviously null and void but I was told that the trains usually never leave or arrive at the time they were meant to, and I didn't have any time constraints so I figured no point stressing about it. Eventualy 45mins later the train arrived, but it was kind of full all ready and we (There was a couple that was staying at the same place I was staying and also heading to Ayutthaya so we stuck together) were told to get into the last cart, which seemed like a squeeze as well. we managed to get on just before the train started moving again and then slowly made our way into the cart. The train officers (not sure what they called) checked our tickets, he spoke a little english and joked with us a bit.
The train was so full and all the seats were taken, and it looked like we were going to have to stand for the entire 2 and a half hour journey, but then one of the train officers cleared some of his pappers from one of the seats (they have like four seats that's basically their office) and offered me the seat to sit on, 2 other gentleman stood up from their seats and offered the couple I was travelling with their seats.
People seemed so happy to see us on the train, and tried to make conversations with us, asking us where we from and joking with us, they seemed genuinely friendly and tried to make our ride as comfortable as possible.
Then there was my best part, every few minutes some one would coming walking into the cart with a basket selling food, all types of food, like pieces of chicken on a stick, fried bugs of some sort, some sort of noodle thing and my favourite was this coffee, but not hot coffee it was cold and had ice in it and looked like coke but was coffee, but the best part was that it was in a plastic bag, with a straw coming out the top, definately not something you'll never experience any where else.
